Where K-12 Students Become Entrepreneurs
Start-Up Labs will Launch in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area in Q1 2018
We believe that great ideas can come from anyone at any age. But more often than not, students in K-12 schools are often disregarded from serious conversations about entrepreneurship and business. We want to change this reality.
Our goal is to encourage students to dream, conceive, and conceptualize, and develop great ideas. To that end, we will be hosting high energy networking events, developing mentoring programs, and planning entrepreneurship workshops for students to come together, be inspired, and start a dialogue to help them create the "next big thing." Additionally, a select handful of student entrepreneurs will be provided seed money to fund their ideas.
If you’re a K-12 school student with a product or business idea, your lucky day may be coming soon. All students in the DC Metro area are welcome to compete for a chance to win seed funding and mentorship from successful business professionals. The competition will be sponsored by several well-known technology companies who will have an integral part in selecting and developing our student entrepreneurs.
Students will enter the competition by describing their ideas in a short web-based form. Submissions will be reviewed by Intelvative's Leadership Team and a select number of advisors with entrepreneurship expertise and start-up business experience. Applications will be scored based on creativity and business viability criteria.
Students who already have a product or business idea are encouraged to compete, but this competition is not just for them. Students are challenged to think of a solution to any problem they may see globally, locally or individually, and then propose the solution in the form of a business idea. Students are encouraged to be as creative as possible.
"This is a unique, hands-on opportunity for students to learn and explore the multiple facets of entrepreneurship and business ownership.” says Hiren Patel, CEO of Intelvative.
